Letting us post to Facebook and Instagram: how to prepare and connect
Facebook and Instagram have a few rules of their own — personal profiles can't be connected, and Instagram has to be a professional account linked to a Page. This guide explains those requirements, how to connect your accounts to us, and what we can and won't do once you've authorized access.

- Personal profiles can't be connected — you need a free Business Page first. That's Facebook's rule, not ours
- To connect Instagram, it must be a professional account and linked to a Page
- You can revoke access anytime, and everything already on your account stays as it is
For us to post to Facebook and Instagram for you, you need to do two things: make sure your accounts meet the platforms' requirements, then authorize access once in your client portal.
It sounds simple, but Facebook and Instagram have a few rules of their own that often trip people up the first time. This guide walks through them in order.
If any step here is unclear, just send us a screenshot and we'll tell you where to click. If you'd rather not do it yourself, book a video call and we'll walk you through it — you only need to click to confirm.
Step 1: You need a Business Page
Many people assume the Facebook profile they use every day can be connected directly. It can't. Facebook doesn't allow any outside tool to post to a personal timeline — it's a platform restriction that applies to every tool.
The account you use to add friends and post updates.
A free page made for your business — you can create one with your current account.
Creating a Page doesn't affect your personal profile or notify your friends. The Page is yours, and you stay its admin.
A Business Page is free, and you can create one with your current Facebook account. You stay its admin, your personal profile isn't affected, and your friends aren't notified.
Then skip the next section. Not sure? Look under Pages in Facebook — if your business name is there, you already have one.
How to create a Business Page
Use facebook.com on a computer or the mobile app — either works.
On a computer it's usually in the left menu; in the mobile app, open the menu and scroll down.
Use your business or company name, with nothing extra; pick the closest category (for example restaurant, beauty, or real estate agent); and describe what you do in a sentence or two.
Phone, website, hours, and address. People who find your Page see these directly, so filling them in makes it easier to reach you.
The profile picture is usually your logo; the cover is a photo of your storefront or your work. If you don't have a good image yet, leave it — we can make one for you later.
You can change a Page name later, but Facebook reviews name changes — it can take a few days and may be rejected. Using your official business name the first time saves trouble.
Step 2: Instagram's two requirements
Instagram is a bit stricter. For us to connect it, your Instagram account must meet both of these requirements:
In Instagram, switch the account type to Business or Creator. It's free, and you can switch back anytime.
In Instagram settings, link it to the Business Page from the previous step. If either condition is missing, it can't be connected.
These are Instagram's own rules and apply to every third-party tool — they aren't extra requirements from us.
Requirement 1: Switch to a professional account
In the Instagram app: Settings → Account type and tools → Switch to professional account, then choose Business or Creator. It's free, and you can switch back to a personal account anytime.
A professional account also gives you useful extras, like views and engagement for each post.
Requirement 2: Link it to your Facebook Page
Also in the Instagram app's settings, find the option to link a Facebook Page and choose the Business Page you just created.
Instagram is part of Meta, and its publishing access is tied to a Facebook Page. It's how the platform is designed, not a detour on our side. So even if you only want Instagram, you still need a Facebook Page.
Step 3: Authorize access once in your client portal
Once the first two steps are done, the rest is quick:
You'll find it in the menu on the left.
You don't need to connect Instagram separately — it's authorized together with Facebook.
This step matters — see below.
If you see the account name and profile picture, you're connected.
Facebook's authorization screen lists all your Pages, and they may not all be selected by default. A Page you leave unselected this time may lose the access you granted earlier. So each time you authorize, select every Page you want us to manage — even ones that were connected before.
If you later disconnect a Facebook Page, the Instagram account linked to it is disconnected too — Instagram's publishing access depends on that Page's authorization.
What we can and won't do after you authorize
This is the most important part. Authorizing doesn't hand over your account — it gives us a key that only opens a few specific doors.
- Publish content to the accounts you choose, after you approve it
- Read basic info like the account name and profile picture, so you can confirm it's the right account
- Read performance data for published content, for your monthly summary
- Never publish anything without your approval
- Don't reply to comments or messages for you (not part of the service)
- Don't edit or delete anything already on your account
- Don't sell your data or use it for ad targeting
You can revoke access anytime. Click Disconnect in your client portal, or remove Aflame AI in Facebook / Instagram / YouTube / TikTok's own settings — either takes effect immediately. Everything already on your account stays exactly as it is.
Your password
No step ever requires your Facebook or Instagram password, and we'll never ask for it. Authorization happens on Facebook's own screens, and only Facebook sees the password you enter.
Publishing
We never publish anything without your approval. Here's how it works: you send us your materials → we prepare the post → we send it to you by email or text to review → you say it's good → only then do we publish. If something needs changing, just tell us and we'll revise it until you're happy.
Your privacy
- We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't use it for ad targeting.
- We don't reply to comments or messages for you — that's not part of the service.
- We don't edit or delete anything already on your account.
- Your authorization credentials are stored encrypted on our side and used only to provide the service to you.
- When you disconnect or revoke access on the platform, we stop using and delete the related connection data.
The full details are in our Privacy Policy, which has a separate section on Facebook and Instagram.
Revoking access
There are two ways, and both take effect immediately: click Disconnect in your client portal, or go to Facebook's Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites and remove Aflame AI. We lose access right away, and everything already on your account stays exactly as it is.
Once you're connected, you're done
After your accounts are connected, you only have two things to do: send us materials (photos, videos, logo, menu, promotions — upload them in your client portal or send them to us directly) and approve content (we send each post to you, and publish once you say it's good).
We handle the editing, sizing for each platform, captions, subtitles, cover images, hashtags, and the publishing itself. You don't need to learn any tools or work on the platforms yourself.
Creating the Page, switching the account type, linking, and authorizing — we can walk through all of it with you remotely. It usually takes 15 to 20 minutes, and you only need to click to confirm.

Do I have to create a Facebook Page? Even if I only want Instagram?
Yes. Instagram's publishing access is tied to a Facebook Page — that's Meta's design, and it's the same for every third-party tool. The good news is that a Page is free, takes a few minutes to set up, and gives your business one more place to be found.
Will you see my personal posts or friends list?
The access we request covers your Business Page and Instagram business account — to publish content you've approved, and to read basic account info and post performance. We don't use this information for anything unrelated to what you authorized, and we don't sell it or use it for ad targeting. The exact scope is described in the Meta section of our Privacy Policy.
Will switching to a professional account change my followers or existing posts?
No. Your followers, posts, and message history all stay the same. A professional account just adds business features like post performance data. You can switch back to a personal account anytime.
Once I authorize, will you post whatever you want?
No. We send each post to you first, and publish only after you approve it. Nothing is published without your approval.
If we stop working together, will you keep my accounts?
No. Your Page and Instagram stay in your name, and you're the admin. Click Disconnect in your client portal or remove Aflame AI in Facebook settings, and we lose access immediately — everything on your account stays as it is.
I have no idea how to do any of this. Can you help?
Yes. We can walk through creating the Page, switching the account type, linking, and authorizing with you on a 15–20 minute video call. You only click where the account owner has to confirm. We never need your password.
Hand off your social media content
You send the materials; we edit, lay out, and write the captions, send each post for your approval, and publish on schedule. No tools to learn, and no need to work on the platforms yourself.
